Summary
Nance calculates insights for a Smart Group by aggregating all transactions within the group and analyzing them as a single unit.
How This Works in Nance
Smart Groups create a custom layer of analysis on top of your transactions.
1. Aggregation of Transactions
- All transactions added to a Smart Group are:
- Combined together
- Treated as one logical dataset
Nance calculates:
- Total spend for the group
- Total income (if applicable)
2. Category-Level Breakdown
Even within a group, Nance still respects categories:
- Shows category-wise distribution inside the group
- Example:
- Travel → ₹5,000
- Food → ₹2,000
- Shopping → ₹3,000
This helps you understand where money went within that context
3. Time-Based Insights
- Tracks spending across:
- Dates
- Duration of the group (e.g., trip period)
- Helps identify:
- Daily spend patterns
- Peak spending moments
4. Cross-Account Consolidation
- Combines transactions from:
- Bank accounts
- Credit cards
- Cash
Into one unified view for the group
What It Does NOT Do
- Does not change:
- Original categories
- Budgets
- Global insights
Smart Group insights are isolated to that group only
Why This Matters
- Lets you analyze spending by purpose, not just category
- Gives a clear picture of:
- Total cost of an event/trip
- Where money was spent within that context
Same transactions.
But now, they tell a story together.
